The communities supported through New Growth are at the centre of a community-led reforestation model that links environmental restoration with long-term livelihoods. These communities are restoring degraded land through managed reforestation, protecting water sources, stabilising slopes, and strengthening biodiversity while also developing fruit and nut tree nurseries and agroforestry systems. By placing forest stewardship in the hands of local people, the model reinforces ownership, responsibility, and lasting care of both land and resources.

Alongside reforestation, farmers receive practical training in organic practices, agroforestry, and sustainable land management, enabling them to integrate productive trees and cash crops into restored landscapes. This combined approach helps communities move beyond short-term aid, addressing food insecurity and economic vulnerability while building resilience to climate change. The vision is not only to restore forests, but to establish self-sustaining reforestation communities capable of passing knowledge, skills, and planting material to neighboring areas and thriving over the long term.
