What is the meaning of Mondo Zen?

We freely give our teachings, from the heart, just as the cypress tree gives from itself in so many ways. We receive all gifts with gratitude, knowing that this is the spirit in which your gifts are given. We ask for your generosity to make possible the extension of the same generosity, as we offer scholarships and other assistance through our community programs.

The joy we receive from the wisdom of Junpo’s gift of Mondo Zen is further realized in the act of giving and receiving as a sangha community, as we collectively tend our cypress tree in the courtyard.

Our goal is $30,000. We only ask only for what we need. We ask, recognizing that to receive this kindness is not distinct from our ability to give in turn.
