End of Year Giving
Thank you so much for helping us fulfill our mission of "Nurturing Art within Our Community!"
Your contributions make it possible for the Watauga Arts Council, a volunteer-driven and donor-supported nonprofit, to advocate, educate, engage, and inspire Art within our community.
We have a renewed focus to unite the community around the Arts. We are building vital relationships with community leaders, artists, and arts organizations in order to strengthen the artist community in Watauga County and beyond. As we work to rebuild our programming and engage in fresh ways, we invite you to join us. Share your ideas, volunteer, participate in programming and donate. You are important to us. Your participation builds community and strengthens the culture of the High Country. We can't do this alone! Your support will help the arts in High Country to thrive!
Thank you for loving art!

More About Our Current Status:
Effects of Covid: Due to COVID-19, the WCAC temporarily closed its doors to visitors for the safety of our volunteers and community members. We could no longer offer in-person classes, workshops, gallery events, or gift shop hours. We stopped actively seeking membership renewals because we were unable to offer programs. We also wanted to be sensitive to our members who may also be struggling due to the pandemic. Our main sources of income stopped. We stripped our budget bare and are making it thanks to the help of contributions from Cheap Joe's, The Local, County Commissioners, and NC Arts grants.
Looking Ahead: In August we welcomed a new Executive Director, Amber Bateman. She has come with fresh energy and has already begun the important work of building strong community partnerships. We are excited about our renewed vision for enhancing the community with Art. We are slowly reopening the Blue Ridge ArtSpace and we adopted a new temporary facility, King Street Art Collective, that was donated to us for COVID-safe art-related activities. We are thrilled to have added new members and engaged new artists through this new space. Things are looking up for 2021!
