2020-21 School Year Campaign
Dear Friends of Libertas Academy Charter School
We opened our virtual doors Monday, September 14 and school is live and in-session. We committed to a 2020-21 Reopening Plan that was grounded in our mission, core values, the most up-to-date scientific findings specific to the health of our local community, and guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Following our feasibility studies, we determined that a phased reopening plan beginning with a full virtual model was our strongest path forward.
There is much to share from both our first month of the 2020-21 school year and the months leading up. At the core of all our decisions, we are steadfast to both our UNWAVERING pursuit of our mission and to supporting our community throughout the ongoing, unpredictable challenges of this pandemic.
We’ve remain committed to rigorous academics through live, synchronous learning five days a week while we continue to navigate the unpredictable realities of both an environment reliant on virtual platforms and the external global health reality;
All core contents are taught with improved intervention and remediation student supports;
Our teachers and coaches maintain weekly virtual professional development for ongoing skill advancement;
Our operations team continues to advance data and technology platforms to support student learning while simultaneously preparing the facility for when hybrid will eventually begin; and
We contact guardians ongoing in our dedication to keep family communication central to our partnership toward their student's education.
This is all the direct result of our team’s commitment and effort throughout the month of July, five weeks of teacher training, and two weeks of Student Orientation. One month in, and we remain firm that our Reopening Plan was the right path for our community. Every day, our team lives out our belief that our environment does not dictate student learning; we do.
We are beyond grateful to count you among our community. Please stay safe and healthy as our communities and country continue to navigate this pandemic. I look forward to your continued partnership and to sharing updates on our advancing middle school and developing high school programs. My team and I remain steadfast in our mission and commitment to our students. This is what it means to educate. This is what we signed up for. This is what our students deserve.
With urgency and joy,
Modesto
