FUTURE FARMERS FUND

Advancing Equity in Farming

Join Rogue Farm Corps as we launch our annual scholarship campaign to support future farmers of Oregon!  Rogue Farm Corps (RFC) strives to center equity in our work and to dismantle systems of oppression that exist in agriculture, in ourselves, in Oregon, and in society. Part of this work includes making hands-on farm training and technical assistance more accessible.

Established in 2019, the Future Farmers Fund offers scholarships to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, veteran, low-income applicants and others who have been historically excluded from agriculture in Oregon.

Help us Advance Equity in agriculture

With your support we are able to make our farm training programs more accessible to participants of diverse backgrounds. This in turn increases and diversifies the pool of well-trained, equity-informed, sustainability focused farmers entering the field of agriculture.

Demand is higher than ever for our hands-on, immersive training programs

There is an urgent need to prepare the next generation of farmers.

According to the USDA Census of Agriculture, the average age of farmers in Oregon is approaching 60, sparking concern for how we will steward our agricultural lands and continue to produce food into the future. Only 4% of farmers in Oregon are under 35. Additionally, Only 3% of farm owner-operators in Oregon identify as a race other than white.

Interest in sustainable, regenerative agriculture is growing in Oregon!

This year, we had 87 applicants for our Apprenticeship program. We currently work with 20 commercial host farms which allows us to place up to 25 apprentices each year. The demand highly outweighs the supply. We are looking to expand our capacity over the next 3 years to better meet the growing interest in farming and ranching.

NEW this year, we launched the Regenerative Farming Fellowship!

We are excited to offer another solution in our efforts to advance equity in agriculture. The Regenerative Farming Fellowship offers an entry-level, paid part-time, seven-month learning and training experience in regenerative, small-scale vegetable production with a focus on market gardening. Our pilot teaching farm launched in the Rogue Valley in partnership with The Family Nurturing Center and Oregon State University Extension.  Extension.
