Update - 17th June 2021
FareShare North East are proud to confirm that on the 13th June 2021, John, Paul, and Avery completed their 15,000 ft Tandem Skydive
For John, Paul, and Avery, it was an extraordinary experience that each found to be quite overwhelming. For those of us who were able to join them and watch - it was quite an amazing and breath-taking experience too as we watched the daring trio go to the heights to fundraise.
Interpretation, challenge, and endurance may be more of dramatic feedback for a fundraising event, but words that have described the event were more on the lines of, "Incredible, amazing and when can I do it again?"
Watching on, we all thought how brave they were, and how commendable - that each would do such a challenge so people in the North East could have food.
FareShare North East sincerely thank everyone who has supported the fundraising efforts of John, Paul, and Avery. Your contributions have already exceeded the £2,000 target which we thought may be possible. Your support has been amazing and together you have raised just over £2,600 (as of 17th June 2021)
With the money raised by colleagues at LNER, Olivia, and her massive stair challenge, and support from The William Webster Charitable Trust, just over £7,000 has now been raised towards the purchase of the new refrigerated van.
Your support for this Sky Dive initiative has significantly boosted the funds and, John, Paul, Avery, and all at FareShare North East, sincerely thank you.
We will keep the donation page open until 31st July 2021 in case anyone else would like to support the fundraising efforts of John, Paul, and Avery. People can continue to support each individual, or as a group, on this page.
You are a part of something very special. The cost of these vans is high and the achievement to purchase a new van is proving to be great teamwork.
On the 31st July, 5 people will be cycling from Lands End to John o'Groats, and on the 14th August, we are holding a Golf Tournament. All these initiatives will join John's, Paul's, and Avery's efforts, and all who went before them.
If you would like to get involved in the Golf Tournament, have a fundraising idea, or interested in a sponsorship opportunity, please email our Fundraising Co-ordinator : [email protected]

The story began when John told FareShare North East last year that, for his 70th Birthday in 2021, he wanted to do a Tandem SkyDive, to fulfill a personal ambition, and to raise money for FareShare North East. John is one of our amazing
volunteers, working in the warehouse and help make the food deliveries. He invited others to join him. Janice, another lovely volunteer, and Paul, one of our skilled warehouse operatives, accepted his invitation.
Janice was replaced by Avery, as an unforeseen circumstance prevented Janice from continuing with the SkyDive.
The daring trio took to the skies on Sunday 13th June to complete a 15,000ft Tandem Sky Dive *
John and Paul have personally covered the cost for the SkyDive. Avery is an apprentice chef at Second Bite CIC - one of the community groups we work with in getting food to those who need it the most. As a way to thank and help promote FareShare North East, the CEO of Second Bite CIC has personally paid to join the team.
With the cost for the Sky-Dive covered, your support will go directly to the cause, and not to pay for the jump. John, Paul, and Avery will be gathering personal sponsorship, but we have set this page up for anyone who wishes to support their joint efforts and donate to help raise money for a much-needed refrigerated van for our deliveries.
FareShare North East redistributes good-to-eat surplus food to front-line community groups who provide meals for members of their communities who are known to be vulnerable and to those who are experiencing food poverty.
Each week, we deliver to over 200 community groups across the North East. As well as ambient food, groups can benefit from chilled and frozen food. Therefore, we are requiring refrigerated vehicles so that we can safely deliver the food.
Due to the cost of these vehicles (£25,000-£30,000), achieving our target will truly be a joint effort. We start with £475 since Francesca and her colleagues from LNER started the fundraising efforts at Christmas. Olivia raised £880 with her 3 Peak/Stairs Challenge. We hope that this Sky Dive will boost our totals and will also help by inspiring personal and corporate support. Achieving this target will truly be a joint achievement - a great example of community helping community members in need
Thank you for your donation, and a massive thanks to John, Paul, and Avery for extending your support for FareShare North East in this daring and amazing way
