Goal
Dear Aniwa Community,
We come to you with a heartfelt plea to support Grandmother Clara Soaring Hawk, a beloved former Deer Clan Chief and current Ramapough Lenape Nation ambassador, in her journey towards regaining her eyesight. Grandmother Clara is not just a leader; she is an elder, spiritual advisor, public speaker, artist, activist, and teacher who has dedicated her life to sharing the truths passed down by the Creator and the ancestors.
Grandmother Clara has been a guiding light, facilitating ceremonies both nationally and internationally. Her commitment to working with the youth, promoting spiritual teachings, and advocating for the environment has made a profound impact. She defines herself as a spiritual ecologist, emphasizing the need for a new level of consciousness in these times of global turmoil.
Now, Grandmother Clara faces a health challenge - she requires eye surgery due to glaucoma. During a recent doctor's visit, she discovered that her insurance will cover the surgery only if it's done manually, using surgical tools. However, she is hesitant due to the intimidating nature of the manual procedure and its potential risks.
The alternative is laser surgery, which not only aligns with her desire for a less invasive approach but also helps reduce the pressure caused by glaucoma. The cost is $4500 per eye for laser. The surgeries are scheduled one month apart, with the first surgery tentatively set for March 20th.
Grandmother Clara has turned to us, her extended community, for assistance in raising funds to cover the costs of the laser surgery. She is grateful for any support that will help her move forward in a positive way.
Let's come together to ensure Grandmother Clara Soaring Hawk receives the care she deserves. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in her journey towards restored vision. Together, let's honor her commitment to the land, water, and people by giving her the gift of sight and helping her continue her inspiring work for the next seven generations.
Thank you for your generosity and for standing with Grandmother Clara in this crucial time.
