We provide our research for free.

Simple Liberty Foundation does not sell ads or your data - support from our donors is what makes this work possible.  We are grateful for your donations, which help fuel our work to confirm the truth - and we believe your prayers guide and protect us.

Your support funds three things: 

1. The hours it takes to research issues - through meaning, evidence, impact, and solution - and to run our Commoners Corner challenges and online discussions with Members.

2. The place where Members and other citizens discuss and refine our work - respectfully, transparently.

3. The reach to put our Issues content and proposed solutions in front of people who need to hear from us before making decisions that affect our lives.

Q: What is The Commons?

The Commons is our online community - where members consider America’s challenges.  What are the major issues?  What claims to be a solution?  What does each claim mean?  What evidence supports it - or not?  Who is impacted should the claim become law?  And, what’s the best solution for the common good of all Americans?

The Commons is the gathering place of Simple Liberty - similar to a pub, town square, or city wall where wise people met to discuss and resolve the challenges of their community - listening, considering the opinions of others, contributing, and finding common ground to extend the life of their people through next generation.

Subscribers can see all that we present in The Commons.  Members may join the discussions and events.

Q:   What's the difference between Member and Commoners Club?

All Members fully participate in The Commons, see all research, and shape the conversation.  Commoners Club members receive additional opportunities for participation because their support enables us to expand our work.  For instance, Commoners Club members can vote on what we research next, comment on confidential drafts before publication, and have more time with David and our team.  

Q:   Why $125 monthly for Commoners Club?

$125 a month - $1,500 a year - is the minimum cost for us to fully research a claim and work through it with Members - meaning, evidence, impact, and a solution.  Part of the work with Issues and Claims is done by volunteers, but we always need paid staff involved to finalize our reports, present them online - free for anyone to view - and explain them to the public.   

Q:   Is Simple Liberty a nonprofit?

Simple Liberty Foundation is a California nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status pending.  We have applied to the IRS for 501(c)(3) recognition and anticipate approval in 2026.  Until it is granted, we cannot guarantee that contributions are tax-deductible.  If recognition is denied, any donor may request a full refund.

Q:   Can I give something other than cash?

Yes - and it is often the better way.  Most American wealth is not cash.  It is in appreciated stock, real estate, business interests, and retirement accounts.  Giving an appreciated asset directly, instead of selling it first, can mean more going to our work and less going to taxes.  Most people never realize this is an option.

Q:   How is my support used?

Every dollar fuels the work:  Original research on real solutions, the people who produce it, and the platform where citizens build on it together.  We're a lean team, not an institution - your support goes to the mission, not overhead for its own sake.  We hold ourselves to the stewardship standard set by the best in the field, like the Salvation Army, and in 2027 we will start reporting our financials openly so you can hold us accountable.

Q:   Are donations refundable??

Contributions to Simple Liberty Foundation are charitable gifts, and are generally not refundable.  You can cancel any time to stop future contributions.

Three exceptions:

• Member support.  Member subscriptions are processed through Substack, so Substack's refund policy applies.  A refund requested within 7 days of payment is honored.  
• If the IRS denies our 501(c)(3) recognition.  Any donor may request a full refund.
• Billing errors.  Duplicate or mistaken charges are always refunded.

Q:  Is Simple Liberty aligned with a political party?

No.   We are not committed to align with any party, candidate, or campaign.  We start from facts and America's founding values, and we follow them to what’s best for the common good of all Americans - today and into the future.   Our loyalty is to the truth and to free people staying free.

Q:  Will my information be shared or sold?

Never.  We do not sell, share, or rent member information.  No ads.  No data brokers.  Member badges are anonymous unless you choose to display your name.  Public membership lists do not exist.  Your participation is private to The Commons and the Simple Liberty organization.  See our Privacy page for details.
