Let's Run Together
Please join me. My name is Russ Fugal (writing at medium.com/@rfugal) and I’m running for U.S. Congress. As a candidate for Congress in Utah’s 3rd Congressional District, I unquestionably support the legal preservation of Bears Ears National Monument and the reversal of President Donald Trump’s 2017 presidential proclamation.
My campaign centers four issues:
READ MY PLAN TO WIN at www.Fugal2020.com/how-we-win/
Indigenous Lands: Without recognizing the fundamental injustices of appropriation of Indigenous lands, from 13th–19th century Enclosure to 21st century Blockadia, we cannot fix the social problems that will soon burn out our fossil fueled burst of economic flame. READ MORE
Environmental Justice: All we have to do is nothing, and millions will die. All we have to do is nothing, and we will create environmental catastrophe. We must reverse environmental degradation and prepare humane aid for people displaced by climate change and disasters, and we must resolve the systemic racial biases that numb our sense of responsibility.
Fossil Carbons are not Fuel: We must transition to 100% clean energy to end reliance on fossil carbons as fuel. Existing products, equipment, and infrastructure that burn fossil hydrocarbons must be replaced and retired before their end of useful life. This transition will increase employment while disrupting careers, savings, and income; so we must honor our debt to the labor which built our current prosperity. READ MORE
A.I. Amplification Transparency: Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) will disrupt existing labor markets and is already disrupting our social coherence. Big Tech recommendation machines amp up ideological divisions in our public discourse, spread fake news, and will continue to enable bad actors to pollute our public discourse through the A.I. powered attention economy. Attention greedy A.I. threatens our mental health and the strong social fabric necessary to address big social upheavals. READ MORE

- I pledge to accept no campaign contributions from corporate PACs. READ MORE
- I pledge not to take contributions over $200 from oil, gas, and coal industry executives, lobbyists, and PACs and instead prioritize the health of our families, climate, and democracy over fossil fuel industry profits. READ MORE
- I pledge to hold no closed-door fundraisers where admission is contingent on making a contribution greater than $200. I pledge to reject the cash-for-access system that is a hallmark of U.S. political campaigns. READ MORE
