Fuel the Future of Play: Help Improve the Long Lake Dome
In surrounding communities, school districts and cities operate turf-field domes so athletes of all ages can play sports like soccer, lacrosse, and softball year-round. But here in our area, local school districts and municipalities still have no near-term plans to meet this growing demand.
That’s why Orono Westonka Soccer Club (OWSC) stepped up—on behalf of our players, families, and other local youth sports associations—to create a solution.
In July 2024, OWSC acquired the existing dome property in nearby Long Lake. After a full year of operating the site, we’ve seen firsthand the value it brings to local athletes and community groups. From early morning practices to weekend tournaments, the dome has become a hub for youth sports, learning, and connection.
As youth sports programs in our community continue to grow, so does the need for safe, reliable, and high-quality facilities. This campaign is about more than bricks and turf—it’s about building pride, opportunity, and a lasting legacy for the next generation.
Over the past year, we’ve also developed a clearer understanding of the facility improvements needed to keep up with community demand and ensure long-term success. Two immediate priorities are:
Parking Lot Repair: Improving access and safety for everyone using the facility.
HVAC System Replacement: Creating a comfortable, efficient environment for year-round use that will allow us to successfully operate for the foreseeable future.
To meet these goals, we’re launching a fundraising campaign to support critical upgrades and ongoing maintenance—so that we can continue to provide a dependable, high-quality space where kids can grow, thrive, and stay active close to home.
Over the coming weeks & months, we’ll be hosting community events, and inviting supporters like you to be part of something special. Whether you're a parent, a player, a local business, or a fan from afar—there’s a place for you in this journey.
Help us turn this vision into reality. Your support fuels more than facility improvements—it builds a stronger, more connected community for the youth of today and tomorrow.
If this effort resonates with you or your family foundation, or if you know a local business that might want to support youth sports and community development, please help us make that connection.
