Goal
From The Peace Palace to Lviv - Cycling for Ukraine's Wounded
More than four years into this ugly war, Russia has not stopped shelling Ukraine for a single day.
Behind every ceasefire rumour, there are people lying in hospital beds, both soldiers and civilians, struggling to live without a limb, without a home, without the life they had before. The war is still happening.
Netherlands for Ukraine is glad to support Brian, a student at Leiden University in The Hague, who this June will cycle over 2,000 kilometres from the Peace Palace to Lviv, Ukraine, in thirty days, to raise funds for the Superhumans Center.
What is the Superhumans Center?
Superhumans Center (https://superhumans.com) is a rehabilitation centre in Lviv. It aims to heal the wounds and trauma of the war. Prosthetics fitted and calibrated on-site. Months of physiotherapy. Psychological care for patients and their families. All of it free of charge, for every patient. So far, they have helped more than 2,500 people rebuild their lives.
NL4UA has partnered with Superhumans Center to strengthen Ukraine’s rehabilitation. This campaign is a direct extension of that work.
The journey
Brian will take over the relay from three fellow cyclists - students from Ukraine (@cyclepoint_kyiv), who are riding all the way from Lviv to Rotterdam with a symbolic flag signed by Ukraine’s defenders. Then, on June 13, Brian will start his own ride in the opposite direction, from the Peace Palace to Ukraine. Through Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, and across the border into Ukraine. He will arrive in Lviv in early July and deliver every euro raised in person to the Superhumans Center.
Every day of the journey will be shared on Instagram. The road, the people, the distance, and the reason he keeps going, hoping to inspire more and call for peace.
A short documentary, produced with the support of professional filmmaker Kevin Augello (https://m.youtube.com/@KevinAugelloNewEarthFilms?ra=m), will be released after the journey to bring this story to a wider audience. Donors who make a significant contribution will be thanked by name in the film.
What your donation means
At Superhumans Center, your generosity will go to:
• A prosthetic limb - fitted, calibrated, and handed to someone who lost theirs to the war
• Extended physiotherapy - until a person can walk again, work again, hold their child again
• Psychological care - for the patient, and for the family waiting at home
• Training for Ukrainian medical staff - so the knowledge stays in Ukraine long after the war ends
Our goal: €30,000
Thirty days. Two thousand kilometres. One destination.
This campaign is supported by the Netherlands for Ukraine Foundation, NL4UA (https://www.nl4ua.org/) and by ABBA Student Association (https://www.instagram.com/abba.association.leiden/) , the student association at Leiden University promoting Eastern European culture and Ukrainian victory.
Netherlands for Ukraine ensures every donation is used safely, transparently, and effectively.
