Goal
Chris Jaramillo currently serves as the President on the Norristown Area School Board. Representing a district where 50% of its student body identifies as Latine, Chris decided to run for school board and ensure that every child feels valued by the learning community, every child is given the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential, and to ensure representation from all community members on the school board. Chris is honored to make history serving as the first Latino on the NASD school board and the first Latino in leadership.
Chris brings over 15 years of interdisciplinary experience where education, policy, and advocacy intersect. Serving as a teacher and administrator in traditional public schools, universities, and non-profits is where he has cultivated his craft and became a leader in education. His work on the school board includes policies and resolutions on establishing Educational Equity, acknowledging Black History Month, establishing Welcoming Schools, Climate Resilient Schools, expanding World Language offerings in Middle School, providing scholars with mental health days, protecting tax payers through fiscal responsibility, and improving student outcomes. His leadership on the board has resulted in elementary Math proficiency increasing 10 percentage points from the '21-'22 to '22-'23 academic years, middle school Math proficiency increasing 5 percentage points from the '21-'22 to '22-'23 academic years, passing a dual enrollment program, responding to learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic with intensive summer programming, no tax increases in 4 years, increasing district funding by $47 million, adding 140 staffing positions within 4 years, and the formation of a Community Advisory Council. He is running for re-election to continue the work he has led to address educational inequities for all students and ensuring representation on the board.
