We were newlyweds when I was drafted out of grad school at Johns Hopkins, thankful to be stationed at Ft. Detrick and not Viet Nam (1969-1971). Broke with no place to live when we arrived, we commuted from Baltimore for 2 months while staying with friends there. Soon, with a cosigned loan and both working multiple jobs outside the Army, we were able to buy a mobile home in Braddock Heights in Ken Poling's park. Life there and in Frederick was so pleasant that we continued living there for the birth of our son after I returned to JHU finishing my Ph.D. A local fluff-and-fold was a blessing in this busy and trying time, making possible our hectic schedule to pay off that mobile home. Now retired with our home in California paid off, it's amazing what clean clothes can lead to. Keep it up.

My brother was homeless with mental illness since he was a teenager. He died at age 36 wearing two unmatched socks and a couple layers of unwashed clothes.
Thank you for caring enough to restore some dignity to our loved ones even if for just one clean day of clothes.
