Projects for adult foster care reform will be carried out under the Food Scheme for African Development Initiative. One of the organization's main goals is to offer fundamental and long-lasting solutions to the disadvantaged demographic groups that concern children and their wellbeing.

According to the most recent federal statistics, 475,000 children, or 6% of all children in the United States, are living in foster homes. These children were taken from neglectful parents, violent parents, or parents who used drugs and alcohol excessively.

Depending on their state of residence, about 20,000 children age out of the foster care system each year when they become 18 or 21, or when they complete high school.

In California, Louisiana, Wyoming, Alaska, West Virginia, Montana, Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Vermont, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Oregon, Massachusetts, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, FSFADI researchers found that there are many foster older children who are entering adulthood.

California, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Kansas are among the most vulnerable states, thus the group opted to undertake the initiative there.

Most of these young adults don't have access to quality elementary and secondary education, and they often suffer insecure housing situations or homelessness. The majority of them are exposed to physical health, behavioral health, and overall wellbeing, but they lack access to jobs and job training.

To address these serious challenges, FSFADI is putting four implementation strategies into action. These include the hiring procedure, evaluation, career track, sensitization funding, and open opportunities.

The charity needs a total of $6,040,125 to carry out this initiative successfully for 250 young foster adults over the course of a year. These indicate that each person needs about $24,160.
