Goal

My name is Lindsey M. Williams. I am a Special Education teacher at Forte Preparatory Academy. In addition to my role as an educator, I am the creator and after school adviser of a student leadership organization called The Young Women’s Leadership Initiative. This program is comprised of 14 young ladies who demonstrate leadership within their school community, intelligence, and poise every single day that they enter our building. My hope is and will always be, to educate and inspire young women to advocate for themselves in every field of human endeavor.

Diversity and inclusion within various areas of the educational spectrum is what I push my students in the Young Women’s Leadership club to become knowledgeable and advocate for. In hopes of exposing them to various woman from all over the world of different races, colors, and creeds; it is my wish to bring them to Washington, D.C to participate in the Women’s March on January 19, 2019. This opportunity for our young women would be life changing. Forte Preparatory Academy’s goal is to create global citizens. This exposure to the Women’s March indeed could be a trigger to be the change we wish to see in the world. These young women are dreamers, believers, and doers. They are the future generation committed to change and equality. The chance to be apart of a historical march would light up not only their hearts but their minds as well. Currently, The Young Women’s Leadership Initiative has been campaigning to raise funds towards an effort for an two-night overnight trip to participate in the Women’s March. Lodging, transportation, and food for the overnight trip for our 14 girls and 3 chaperones will cost roughly $3,000.

I extend my sincerest gratitude to any contribution that could be made on your behalf or the behalf of anyone you may know to help our girls get to Washington, D.C. for the Women’s March. As we continue to grow as a school, we dedicate our entire lives to these young women and their dreams to be more, do more, and strive. We hope that one day, these young women will grow up to positively impact the world. Our Forte Family appreciates all of your support!
