Goal
The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department is taking a major step forward in protecting our community — the creation of a dedicated K9 Unit. These highly trained police dogs are proven force multipliers: they locate narcotics and firearms, track missing persons and fleeing suspects, and provide critical support during high-risk incidents.
But building a K9 Unit from the ground up is expensive.
Acquiring certified K9s, handler training, equipment, veterinary needs, and patrol gear can cost tens of thousands of dollars per K9 team. Most of these costs are not fully funded through traditional budgets.
That is where your support matters.
Your Contribution Makes a Direct Impact
Your donation will help offset the costs associated with:
Acquisition of trained police K9s
Handler training and certification
K9 safety equipment (kennels, vests, trauma kits, vehicle inserts, etc.)
Ongoing veterinary and wellness expenses
Training aids and deployment gear
Every dollar donated reduces the financial burden on the department and accelerates how quickly these K9 teams can be deployed to protect and serve Fort Oglethorpe.
Why a K9 Unit Matters
Faster response to critical incidents
Increased officer and community safety
Significant drug and firearm recovery
Stronger search capabilities during emergencies
Community engagement — K9s build trust and connection
K9s don’t just assist in crime prevention — they save lives.
