For Kwang & Hyunjoo Kim
Our ethnic focus group has been the Mien people, who are largely scattered throughout the mountainous areas of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. We served Mien people for 18 years and in 2018, returned to Portland, Oregon.
Though we returned from the mission field, we continued to have a heart for the Mien people and did not know how God would lead us in the future. While serving on the pastoral ministry at our home church, God gradually gave us a strong desire to go to serve the Mien people in NE Thailand, near the border of Laos, through evangelism and church planting. In the past, we lived in a Mien village in Thailand for one and a half years for the purpose of Mien language study. We plan to return and study the Mien language again since we have not had regular use for the last five years. Even though Thailand may be the primary location of our work, we will also connect with the Mien people in the neighboring countries.
