Our mission to serve those in need is driven by Christian charity and the recognition of the dignity of every human being. We welcome anyone who comes to us by providing spiritual and physical nourishment. 

For more than 20 years, St. John's Food for the Poor has served Worcester’s most vulnerable residents. What began as a simple meal service in the basement of St. John’s church has turned into a comprehensive volunteer-driven operation running six days a week. 

Today, operating out of the St. Francis Xavier Center we provide: 

● More than 1500 hot meals each week 

● Six-day per week food pantry 

● Clothing and hygiene assistance 

● Mobile shower services 

● Medical services through UMass Medical Center, Family Health of Worcester and Spectrum Health 

● Harrington House, a 16 bed transitional sober living program for men in recovery 

Each year, thousands of individuals - including seniors, veterans, immigrants, working families, and individuals experiencing homelessness- receive support through our programs.
