Food support for vulnerable families in Shatila and Wavel Refugee Camps in Lebanon
The impact of CoVid-19 has severe consequences on all of us. You might be able to imagine how hard it would hit already vulnerable communities. Just.Childhood has been working in Shatila Refugee Camp since more than five years and has not seen the situation as dire. The families of our beloved children are struggling with very basic provision such as food and medication. We as Just.Childhood are really concerned, worried and very eager to help as much as we can. Unfortunately, we do not have the means to do it alone and in light of the holy month of Ramadan, we would kindly ask for your support.
The overall situation in Lebanon has been bad already before the Corona-crisis. Now, with the Corona Virus outbreak and complete lockdown in the country, life has stopped. People are barely surviving especially in the Palestinian or other refugee camps as they lost most of their monthly income if not all of it. Almost all of them are now unable to buy basic commodities as the prices are extremely high due to inflation and to the dollar crisis. We have asked our donors to shift some of our funds that are not being used due to the closure to provide food packages for our families. But this is barely enough and it just covers the families in Shatila Camp, not in Baalbek’s Wavel Camp.
We are upholding the contact to the families we are working with through our staff and we surely guarantee that all donations reach the families in need. At the moment we have given the names and the amounts for each family to shops in Shatila camp, where the families can choose the items they need the most. We do that on a monthly basis as long as the crisis lasts, and until we can reopen our kindergartens. We want to to the same in Wavel Camp.
Your giving is highly appreciated! With 40 EUR you can support one family for one month.
