Goal
Here at Lakota Youth Development, we work to reclaim Lakota language, culture and spirituality by promoting education and healthy lifestyles for our youth through culturally based strategies.
Our multi-purpose room, which we use as a dining area, indoor camp activity room, storage area, and general indoor gathering space, is in desperate need of repair. When the magazu (rain) comes, the room floods, making it unusable and causing major damage to the camp and Honey Lodge supplies that are stored there.
We're looking to raise funds to repair the doors and walls of the awning to prevent water from seeping in when it rains. We also need to redo the driveway and sidewalk, as well as some landscaping and gravel due to the rain damage.
Wopila (thank you) for any and all contributions! Even if you can't make a contribution today, please share so we can get the word out!
Below are some photos of Lakota youth in the room and its various uses over the years!
