The Vault of Ideas
Mom, why is the sky blue?
We've all been there. We've all gazed into the marvelous beauty of this universe and wanted to understand exactly how everything worked. To look into the magician's eye, as someone once wrote.
I was one of such kids. I asked all sorts of questions. But the curious thing is that, unlike my friends, it didn't end up with school. I wanted to know more and more. I found the Web, and suddenly everything was there at my fingertips. All the treasure of the knowledge of man, ready for the taking.
With every question answered, two or three seemed to sprout. Then, something else happened. I found out that some of the questions weren't really answered. In fact, there were far more questions without an answer than there were questions answered.
Then it hit me. It was time to try to find my own answers to things.
My name is Diego Alves. I'm an amateur scientist, living in Brazil, South America.
Outside from being curious and somewhat creative, I'm a regular senior in college; mostly I try to keep to myself and avoid the hassles people seem to run themselves into. What I enjoy the most is to sit back and relax in my desk, thinking about things, machines, crazy contraptions - Researching as I like to call it. Dreaming of how I can make this World a better place for everyone. Always with a fresh pot of coffee beside me.
Eventually I began taking notes about some of the ideas, and this formed a body of knowledge that now I'm ready to share with everyone.
So I created a website called The Vault of Ideas, where these ideas are presented and discussed. It is still under development as I transfer my own notes there.
Most ideas are incredibly naive, what you would expect from someone so young; I still have a long way to go. But they are optimistic. It would make my day a happy one if one of such ideas would find another creative soul, and lead you into something that is real.
This fundraising campaign was created because as any website, there are maintenance costs that need to be met. The idea is to raise enough money to keep the website running for a initial period of six months. I intend to run regular campaigns to keep the website up for as long as I can, making the ideas available for more people.
In specifics, we run a lean operation. To keep the Google Domain, I'm charged $0.78 per month and for a DISQUS service plan, that enables comments on the website, I'm charged $12.00. This sums to $12.78 per month, that over the course of six months, totals the amount that is being asked in this campaign, $77.
And that is it, all I ask that you drop us a visit at
and check the work for yourself. I hope that after your visit you will be as inspired to create as I was. Then, should you desire, you can return here and buy me a coffee!
