LiveYoung - Preventing Diseases of Aging
Anti-Aging through Muscle Health Initiative:
What is the underlying cause of aging, poor health and disease for the entirety of humanity? In healthcare, we spend so much time battling and addressing symptoms but not the underlying cause. What is that underlying cause that we can reverse to help mitigate diabetes, cancer, sarcopenia, osteoporosis, heart disease, high blood pressure, dementia, Alzheimer's, obesity, and a host of other maladies?
Answer: Loss of muscle strength!
The good news is the trend to understanding this is beginning to build but still fails to be the predominant focus in our society. However, with the emergence of social media, search engine optimization and other tools, we can much more efficiently and rapidly educate and provide a resource app any individual can implement anywhere!
After 35 years of research (supported by the Internal Journal of Cardiology, JAMA, Harvard Center for Biology of Aging Research, and numerous other scientific publications) coupled with “on the field” trial and error, our 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Fit Lab Foundation, has developed a system for enhancing functional strength and quality of life especially for those transitioning into middle age and beyond. We want to partner with you to provide this knowledge and service to the global community.
What is the most common adjective used when describing an older individual? Feeble, weak, and frail are common terms. Feeble correlates to elderly. Weak defines aging. This does not need to be the case. Our society does not have an obesity problem. It has an under-developed and under-utilized muscle plight. Obesity, diabetes and other signs of aging are simply symptoms of a decline in muscle.
Our program presents a scientifically research backed solution for reversing this aging process and maintaining our functional strength and quality of life. This reduces the instances of diseases, the number of individuals requiring nursing home facilities, and reduces the strain on the medical and insurance industry.
In addition, we all know few want to visit their doctor. However, with our program, as individuals see their health and strength improve, they want to see the doctor to determine how much their panel numbers have improved. This is similar to the student who knows they have a good report card wanting to go to school to receive their grades. With this desire to see their doctor, the odds of catching a disease in the early stages increases.
Also, with the awareness of head trauma as well as the all too familiar age-related decline in mental acuity to the horrific impact of dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other diseases, our system incorporates the latest scientific research and methodologies for enhancing brain function and mental health.
For instance, our resistance training program increases the hormone IGF-1 which is related to the production of Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) - a protein responsible for stimulating the growth of new neural pathways in the brain along with enhancing communication between existing pathways. This could also make one smarter by enhancing cognitive function.
Therefore, beyond being helpful for functional capacity and helping with over 40 diseases/ conditions such as diabetes, stroke and hypertension, resistance training is also amazing for many aspects of brain function including memory, cognition and mood. Exercise increases brain volume improving memory and enhances mood decreasing depression and anxiety.
Our health education specialists, all of whom are world level athletes themselves, will work virtually with clients. Anyone is welcome to drop by our facility for one-on-one training in the "lab" if they happen to be passing through our area. However, the number one goal is to share our knowledge that they can take with them anywhere in the world. Knowledge is power and we seek to empower. We can accomplish this virtually as long as they have access to either a home or public gym.
Thus, we have a unique, one-of-a-kind program that addresses aging, functional strength and health, fills fitness and competition gaps, and reaches those whose needs are not being met.
Those who follow our programming, whether they are 12, 30, 50, 75, or 85 years of age, repeatedly proclaim they have never been stronger and more functionally capable at any other time in their lives. This includes individuals who have had double knee replacements, hip replacements, bypass surgeries, and a multitude of other medical procedures and diagnosis.
Another benefit from resistance training is its ability to enhance the individual to handle stress in their life. The body cannot differentiate between stress induced from lifting a heavy weight and stress caused by a life crisis such as financial hardship, health problems, family issues, traumatic events, etc. Thus, by lifting weights, one adapts their central nervous system and mind to better deal with stressful situations. Often, one is less overwhelmed by a situation and more adept at finding a solution to or a way to recover from the crisis.
These are only a few of the ingredients of our programming. Many of the articles supporting these claims are on our website. The benefit of our program is it provides the daily exercises, sets, reps, and resistance load required to attain the aforementioned results. In addition, the individual has access to our health educators to answer questions.
Nevertheless, the most important aspect of this proposal is the reach a partnership with you can have in impacting a greater number or lives. Fit Lab Foundation’s mission is to enhance health and education, equipping individuals with the functional strength and knowledge to improve their quality of life, which in turn affords them the capacity to make greater contributions to their families and communities. With your partnership, we can make this a reality for innumerable lives. Join us in the fight for improved quality of life.
The donations also allow us to help individuals who have financial struggles to continue with the programming. In addition, funding allows us to increase the public awareness of our program through social media and SEO similar to how campaigns are conducted to educate the population on cancer and other health screenings. Our program reduces the instances of cancer and other diseases in addition to improved functionality and quality of life.
