Help Feed Our Neighbors in Need
JAYNE BROOKS FOOD PANTRY
Church of Messiah parking lot
6436 Montgomery St. in Rhinebeck
Fridays from 10AM – 1PM
Thank you for your generous donation to the Jayne Brooks Food Pantry. Your contribution makes possible the direct and substantial assistance we provide to so many people, in so many households. Often the individuals we serve at the pantry express their sincere gratitude. Their appreciation extends to those, like you, who contribute to our collective endeavor.
We had just over 2,600 household visits during 2022, an increase of approximately 10% over 2021. We provided an average of 572 food packages per month, including 132 for children and 170 for the elderly. We attribute this increase in client numbers to inflated food, utility and housing costs, all of which have left many families struggling just to meet necessary expenses. Donors such as you are integral members of our team, allowing us to continue to meet those increased needs on a weekly basis.
We want to extend a special note of appreciation to our partners in the community for their assistance in raising funds on behalf of the food pantry.
What We Are Doing
The food pantry distributes food to approximately 50 – 60 households per week using a ‘choice’ approach which allows clients to select from a list of our standard non-perishable groceries. We also offer items which vary by week including fresh produce donated by local farmers, dairy products, meat, and non-perishable food items.
Our food distribution procedures are convenient and safe for our clients. Clients come into the parking lot and remain in their cars. They are greeted by a volunteer and receive a list of items from which to choose. Our volunteers bring the packages directly to the cars. During the summer months, our clients leave their cars in order to select fresh produce from an outside produce table.
We operate out of the Church of the Messiah's parking lot located at 6436 Montgomery Street in Rhinebeck on Fridays from 10am to 1pm.
