Fayette County Pet Assistance Fund

Sam Amato was a conscientious thoughtful man who loved animals. He died in Nov., 2008, and left a significant testamentary gift to establish four similar but separate endowments within BAF. This fund for Fayette County and others for Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming Counties will generate income to assist with the cost of spaying and neutering pets available for adoption. The income will be distributed to legitimate animal shelters within these counties, providing that the shelter has been in operation for at least one year as a non-profit organization. If a county has more than one such animal shelter, the income shall rotate among them. Sam graduated from WWHS and Concord College. He was a retired educator who served in various capacities with the Mercer, Summers and Raleigh County Boards of Education.
