Opening the Doors of Environmental Justice
Here's the problem...
Low income communities are facing these environmental injustices and have no access to representation they would need to remedy the situation.
Our environment is so important to our success later in life. It impacts our health well-being which is tied to our brain function and physical stamina. Children living in communities of low income, for instance, have a 70% greater likelihood of having Asthma, a disease strongly tied to air pollution levels. We know that low income communities suffer most from environmental impacts such as air pollution, water contamination, and property damage. And because these same families often lack the means to change their situation or take action when they have been wronged, these debilitating conditions perpetuate cycles of poverty. Therefore the environmental situation continues worsen and corporations are not being held accountable to clean up the hazards they create.
