F.L.Y. GIRL (FIRST LOVE YOURSELF)
F.L.Y. GIRL INITIATIVE (FIRST LOVE YOURSELF)
“Strong Women Inspire Strong Girls.”
The First, Love Yourself Initiative is our grant program that allows us to give funds to individual girls in underserved communities (from the U.S. to Ghana), so that they can afford; school tuition, new uniforms, meals, mentorship, travel, and more! It matures girls who lack confidence into limitless women who do what they
love for a living!
This program is for girls ages 5 to 23. It is specifically designed to fight the international girls education crisis one girl at a time on a global level. Our education partners; teachers, community leaders, youth center leaders etc. alert us to girls who are in need of support. We are support #STUKGIRLS from Kumasi, Ghana to the U.S. They now need our help more than ever!
Program Goals:
To bring awareness of the global education crisis of girls and the importance of creative self-love education!
To have donors sponsor individual girls.
For our donors to know exactly how their donation has helped the development of one specific girl.
Where does the money go?
This program allows us to give funds to individual girls in the U.S. and Ghana who attend our partner schools and youth centers. These funds help them afford art supplies, tuition, clothing, backpacks, books and more.
Why Should I give?
Lack of girls education is an extreme crisis. Many girls in Ghana and girls in low income communities in the U.S. have to stay home from school and do household work when they cannot afford tuition, lunch money, school uniforms and other supplies. We aim to help girls who have dropped out of school or are struggling to get their basic needs met. We will introduce all you donors to each girl that this program directly helps on our instagram.
Why is there such great need?
Many families simply can’t afford school fees and kids have to travel a great distance to get to school. For example; Diamond State Academy is located in a rural part of Ghana. Most girls in the surrounding area live in one-room shacks, often with no real furniture, and up to 6 or more family members. When we visited last we gave the girls pencils, coloring books, and crayons. Most girls had never even had their own pencils let alone their own coloring books. We had to teach many kids to color for the very first time.
How can I help?
For our #STUKGIRLS in the U.S. any amount can help us transform a life and uplift a girl. For our #STUKGIRLS in Ghana, daily lunch money at our partner school, Diamond State is about 2 Ghanaian Cedi’s, which is 0.36 American cents. It costs us almost nothing to make dramatic change in the lives of our Ghanaian girls. Help us keep them in school. Even a dollar helps them stay fly!
If you donate 1 U.S. dollar that is 6 Ghanaian Cedi's that we can give a girl in need. Even 5 Cedi's can go far when living in an underserved community! Every dollar counts and every dollar has the potential to change the life of a fly girl!
Here are the stats:
- Girls and women do 3 times as much as unpaid care and domestic work as men. Many girls are forced to stay home while their brothers get to stay in school, travel or receive education in the US or London.
- Nearly 98 million adolescent girls around the world are not in school. This has a significant impact on the welfare of their families, communities, and countries.
But often, the root of the problem is about attitudes and beliefs about girls.
- When girls hit adolescence they are expected to assume full-time responsibilities in the home or get married and start families of their own.
- Each year, 12 million girls are married before the age of 18. That’s 23 girls every minute.
- Of the world’s 750 million illiterate adults, two thirds are women.
When girls are educated, they lift up their families, their communities, and their countries!
- 420 million people would be lifted out of poverty by achieving a secondary education. This would cut the number of people living in poverty by more than half.
- Sending more girls to school and into the workforce can boost a whole nation’s economy. A world where every girl can go to school would be a better world for everyone.
