Indigenous Peoples' Day may have passed, but the celebration isn't over!
On Saturday, October 17, Urban Indigenous Collective (UIC) returns for our Third Annual Indigenous Peoples' Day After-Party Fundraiser, marking a special milestone: seven years of rebuilding Indigenous systems of care in Lenapehoking (NYC) and beyond.
Seven years ago, UIC launched in community on Randall's Island during Indigenous Peoples' Day. What began as a collective vision has grown into an Indigenous-led organization advancing community wellness, cultural continuity, research, advocacy, and direct services for Indigenous peoples in New York City and the surrounding region.
This October, we're coming together to honor that journey, celebrate our communities, and raise critical funds to sustain the work ahead.
In partnership with The Please Space Studio, Cobblestone Labs Immersive Experiences, and Indigenous artists and creative collaborators, we're transforming a 20,000-square-foot space into a living celebration of Indigenous creativity, culture, resistance, and community.
Throughout the evening, guests will experience:
Indigenous DJs, Live Music & Cultural Performances: A night of music, dancing, and performances featuring Native and Indigenous artists from across the world. Featured DJs: DJ Rhthym ( Maori ) | DJ Kara Roselle Smith ( Chappaqua Wampanoag ) | The Albchemist ( Taino / Maya) DJ Sabreen (Palestinian) Featured Performers: King Charles ( Shinnecock )| Hondo D Bull ( Cherokee / Nansemond) Ka Pa Hula O La'akea
Reimagining Lenapehoking: Step into an immersive 3D-mapped artistic reimagining of Lenapehoking before colonization, created with Cobblestone Labs. This experience invites guests to reflect on the land's Indigenous histories and the living relationships that continue to shape it today.
Indigenous Art & Interactive Installations: Explore original works by Indigenous artists, including a monumental 7-foot artwork debut by Bebonkwe Brown, seven canvases by Ayala honoring relatives impacted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and interactive experiences created in collaboration with Split Ends Media.
Indigenous Fashion Meets Technology: Experience INYFW XR, an augmented reality showcase featuring six Indigenous designers, created through an ongoing collaboration between Relative Arts NYC and Split Ends Media.
Indigenous Marketplace & Food Market: Discover and support Indigenous artists, makers, small businesses, and food vendors sharing their creativity, knowledge, and foodways.
Community Organizations, Education & Advocacy: Connect with community-based organizations working alongside UIC, explore resources, and engage with initiatives like UIC's Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) Policy Tracker, connecting cultural celebration with education, advocacy, and collective action.
Interactive Community Reflections: Contribute your voice to a collective installation where guests' reflections become part of the immersive environment.
This is an invitation to experience Indigenous cultures as living, evolving, and deeply connected to the movements shaping our world today. Come ready to dance, explore, learn, connect, and celebrate.
Taking place following the National Indigenous Peoples of the Americas Parade and during Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics conference weekend, this celebration is also an invitation to the broader psychedelic and plant medicine community to move beyond conversations about Indigenous knowledge and into meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples. Indigenous medicines and healing traditions are not simply part of history. They belong to living communities, cultures, territories, and systems of knowledge that continue to thrive, adapt, and resist. As interest in these medicines grows, so does the responsibility to honor Indigenous sovereignty, cultural knowledge, reciprocity, and the communities who have stewarded these traditions across generations.
This is an opportunity to show up in solidarity with the local Indigenous community, celebrate Indigenous creativity, and directly support Indigenous-led work.
Every ticket supports more than a celebration. It helps sustain Indigenous-led wellness programs, cultural gatherings, community-based research, advocacy, and direct services that strengthen Indigenous communities across Lenapehoking and beyond. Your participation helps ensure that this work continues long after the music ends.
