Every day is Indigenous Peoples Day, and it ain’t over!
On Saturday, October 17, Urban Indigenous Collective returns for our Third Annual Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration in Lenapehoking, New York City. This year is especially meaningful: UIC is celebrating its seventh anniversary. We launched in community on Randall’s Island on Indigenous Peoples’ Day seven years ago, and this gathering is part of honoring that milestone.
Join us for a night of Indigenous music, culture, art, community, and resistance and support the work that continues beyond the celebration. This event is a fundraiser for UIC’s programming and our work to rebuild Indigenous systems of care in Lenapehoking and beyond.
In partnership with The Please Space Studio and Cobblestone Labs Immersive Experiences, we’ll transform a 20,000-square-foot space into an immersive art experience inviting guests to imagine Lenapehoking before colonization.
Following the National Indigenous Peoples of Americas Parade and taking place during the Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics conference weekend the evening will build a bridge between Indigenous communities and the growing psychedelic and plant medicine movement, while centering the peoples, cultures, knowledge, and traditions that have stewarded sacred medicines for generations.
From 8 PM to 2 AM, experience Indigenous DJs, live music, cultural performances, dancing, immersive art, vendors, and community featuring Native and Indigenous artists from across the Americas from the North to the Caribbean and the Global South. 🌎
This is a gathering of cultures, generations, and communities celebrating Indigenous peoples not only through our histories, but as living, evolving cultures shaping music, art, wellness, resistance, and movements today.
