Family Book Club: Navigating Early
Immerse your family in a great story--and then meet other families in the same story you've been journeying through!
Family Book Club is a new program from Eighth Day Institute aiming to renew culture where culture begins: in the family. We will meet four times per year at the turn of each season to delight in stories together and offer immersive activities for your family along the way.
The Fall 2026 selection of Family Book Club is Navigating Early, an exceptionally adventurous tale of surviving the Appalachian Trail, lost family members, mythology of the number pi, constellations, boat races, and why you only listen to Billie Holiday when it rains.
For our first-ever meeting of Family Book Club we are doing something extra special: the author herself, Clare Vanderpool, is going to join us! Here's your chance to get to ask her as many questions as you can think of about the story or how it came to be. (All the things you wish you could say to the author? Yeah, you actually get to do that at this one!)
Registration is free, but limited to 20 families. But don't worry! If you have to miss our first meeting, we'll still curate activities you can do with your family at home, and we'll catch you at the next one in the winter!
