Joe Sample Heritage Session

Hello, I'm Nick Sample.

I'm delighted to present my father Joe Sample's compositions for the first time as a nonprofit production. This special event takes place in Houston, the city where it all began, during Black History Month.

As Joe Sample's bassist for 12 years, I learned this music from the inside. I'll serve as music director, and Bobby Lyle, one of the few who can perform these compositions on piano, will be a key performer.

The night begins with the Houston Heritage Youth Session, led by the renowned Big Al Campbell. This session showcases five talented Houston student musicians who have dedicated months of preparation to perform on the same stage as professional musicians.

This inaugural annual Heritage Session is organized by the Holican Cultural Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every ticket funds the youth program, the artists, and the preservation of the archive that will serve as a lasting legacy of this night.

Tributes are one night. Heritage is forever.

A portion of each ticket above fair market value is tax deductible. Your receipt will clearly indicate the deductible amount.
