Tonia M. Compton is Assistant Professor of History at Kansas Wesleyan University. She holds an M.A. from Texas A&M and PhD from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has spent her career in higher education, as both a faculty member and administrator. She is currently at work completing a book manuscript examining settler colonialism in the American West through the lens of women’s land ownership under federal laws. She is an avid traveler and sports fan (Go St. Louis Cardinals!), cat mom, beginning quilter, and aspiring novelist.
