Coiled and twined basket workshop
Coiled baskets grow from a starter circle. By wrapping fibers or fabric around a core and stitching each round into place, your basket grows coil by coil.
Twined baskets grow from a small base of strands. Using sturdy materials, forms are designed and shaped into an open or closed basket.
In this class, you'll experience the meditative and satisfying process of coiling and twining basketry. Unique materials and objects create a personalized piece.
Experienced basketmakers Ann McGinity and Debbie Prost will share the skills necessary to make baskets with both natural fibers and found materials, including raffia, rope, and recycled fabric. You will leave class knowing how to start, build and finish a basket.
Prerequisites:
- This class is open to total beginners.
- Minimum age: 14 years.
- Class is limited to 10 participants.

- Time: 6-9 pm
- Location: Access Arts fiber studio, 800 Moss Street. The fiber studio is upstairs in the two-story building. There is plenty of free parking outside and on the street.
