Humanitas will host The Humanitas Prizes Award Show & Toast on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Avalon Hollywood where the 2026 Humanitas Prize winners and nominees will be recognized, as well as 2026 honorees.
Recipients of the 2026 New Voices Fellowship, the David and Lynn Angell College Comedy Award, and the Carol Mendelsohn College Drama Award will also be recognized.
2026 host Ashley Nicole Black is a two-time Emmy Award-winning writer, actress, and comedian. She received an NAACP Award nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series in 2022 for Ted Lasso, and was again nominated in 2025 for her work on Shrinking, where she’s an Executive Producer and recurs as ‘Nikki’. Shrinking has been nominated for an Outstanding Comedy Series 2026 Emmy Award. Black was previously a Supervising Producer on the Apple TV series Bad Monkey where she plays ‘Johnna,’ a writer on Ted Lasso, a writer and star on HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show, as well as a writer and correspondent on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.
At the event, winners will receive trophies and there will be a program with remarks. The event will feature live DJ sets by Novena Carmel (KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.)
Humanitas extends its sincerest thank you to the event’s Premiere Sponsor, STARZ #TakeTheLead.
