Pull on your hiking boots and join Wicklow Pride and Queer Shed North Wicklow for The Big Queer Hike on Sunday, 9 August 2026 at 10:00am.
We’ll be taking on The Spinc in Glendalough, a spectacular 5.5km loop through the heart of Wicklow Mountains National Park. The hike takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours and includes forest trails, rough mountain paths and a climb of around 300 metres, all rewarded with incredible views across the Upper Lake and Glendalough Valley.
The route is officially graded as strenuous. You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, but you should be comfortable walking uphill and over uneven ground for a few hours. Please wear sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots and bring suitable clothing for Ireland’s famously imaginative weather.
This event is open to everyone, including members of the queer community, friends, family and allies. Come along with a group or register on your own. It’s a chance to get outdoors, meet new people and enjoy one of Wicklow’s most beautiful trails in welcoming company.
Water and snacks will be provided by Wicklow Pride and Queer Shed North Wicklow. The exact meeting location in Glendalough will be shared with participants following registration.
Pack your suncream (and maybe your raincoat!), bring your Pride and get ready for a glorious morning in the mountains.
