Adventures in Otter Spotting -- Abbotts Lagoon August 9, 2026

Join ROEP's Senior Volunteer Suzanne Queen for a 2.5 hour ramble along one of Point Reyes National Seashore’s most beloved waterways, Abbott’s Lagoon.

Walk Details: Fairly flat walk from the parking lot (with toilet) out to the beach, passing two lagoons along the way and keeping our eyes open for otters, coyote, bobcats, badgers, weasels, fox, raptors, shorebirds and a great many sparrows and quail. There’s an optional short uphill for a great view onto the beach and ocean. No need for wellies; you won’t get wet. We’ll talk otters and other critters, conservation and why it matters, and why otters are more than the cute, fuzzy, wriggly animals we all love to see.

Bring: binoculars if you have them, water, snack, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat.
