English paper piecing
English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a hand-sewing technique that uses paper templates to create scrappy, portable quilt designs, usually made up of small hexagons. It's a great way to use up fabric remnants. Grandmother's Garden is the most well known example of an EPP quilt.
In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to wrap fabric around paper shapes, whipstitch pieces together, and build beautiful, slow-stitched patterns perfect for quilts, pillows, or small projects. EPP is relaxing, meditative, and easy to take on the go-- no sewing machine required!
Whether you’re brand new to quilting or looking to use up all of your fabric scraps, this class will give you the skills and confidence you need to start stitching your own hexie creations.
Prerequisites:
- Minimal sewing skills are required. Participants should know how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and sew a running stitch.
- Minimum age: 14 years.
Feel free to bring your sewing kit with your favorite supplies, especially scissors. Bring fabric scraps if you have a stash you'd like to use up.
