ABOUT THE FILM
Produced by Don Sawyer and Tim Hashko of A Bigger Vision Films, Beyond The Bridge is a documentary that examines homelessness in America through a deeply human lens. Rather than focusing on statistics alone, this film leads with people. It centers on the lived experiences of individuals who are unhoused, alongside the perspectives of service providers, advocates and community leaders working to respond to the crisis. What emerges is a clear picture: homelessness is not a personal failure or moral shortcoming. It is the result of systems that don’t work for everyone.

At its core, the film challenges viewers to look beyond common assumptions about homelessness – moving past stereotypes, fear and misinformation – and, instead, understand systemic causes that push people into housing instability. It challenges communities to ask not, “Why are people homeless?” but “What can we do together to ensure everyone has a safe, stable place to call home?”

The documentary also highlights evidence-based solutions, particularly Permanent Supportive Housing, showing how stable housing paired with supportive services leads to better outcomes for individuals and communities. Viewers see how compassion, policy change and community collaboration can replace punitive or short-term responses.

Ultimately, Beyond The Bridge is both educational and motivating. It asks audiences to recognize the dignity of every person and consider how communities can work together to end homelessness rather than manage it.
