Dahlia Day

Don't miss Dahlia Day on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at 1:30pm at the Meerkerk Nursery. We'll host a tuber swap, a talk by horticulturist Tobey Nelson, and a drawing for a rare Hollyhill Serenity waterlily dahlia. All dahlia tubers in the Nursery will be freshly on sale for 25% off. This will be the best way to increase your dahlia varieties for your gardening season! Just $15 to bring home all sorts of new-to-you dahlias, including "mystery tubers" from our stockpile. Attendance is limited so by tickets now at www.meerkerkgardens.org/nursery-events.

If you are bringing tubers to trade (not required) prep your tubers for the swap. Here is a great video about doing so: 

Most important:
- Label each tuber by writing the name on it with a sharpie or garden marker
- Follow the directions in the video above to be sure your tubers have eyes that will sprout
- Ensure your tubers are free from leafy gall, crown gall, etc. and ready for their new garden!
- If you can, bring a color photo of each type to display with the tubers. Clean bins will be provided. 

When you come, you'll check in your tubers with our Nursery team, and get your dahlia bucks (monopoly money for the swap). We'll have tables out with empty bins, so we'll put tubers in the bins by type, and after Tobey's talk everyone can "shop the swap" with their dahlia bucks. 

We won't be able to accept responsibility for things like blind tubers, so everyone will swap at their own risk. There will also be a big bin of giveaway mystery tubers, so no one will go away empty handed! 

Best of all, all 16 varieties of dahlia tubers on sale at the Nursery will be 25% off to attendees, just $7.15 per tuber! Hope to see you!
