SUNSETS AT MARINA DEL REY
A Founder-Led Waterfront Gathering
Presented by Unexpected Artistry | The Humble Wellness & Creativity Collaborative
Hosted by Anthony Gaskins
Friday, February 27, 2026
Burton Chace Park · Marina Del Rey, CA
Sunsets at Marina Del Rey is a seasonal waterfront gathering designed to cultivate reflection, conversation, and creative presence in public space. Hosted by actor, creator, and educational leader Anthony Gaskins, the series blends original performance, shared nourishment, and communal exchange to reimagine what it means to practice culture together.
Presented by the nonprofit Unexpected Artistry, each gathering is intentionally intimate, limited in capacity, and grounded in the belief that creation is a form of care.
The experience unfolds in three movements:
-
The Prelude: an optional golden-hour moment aboard The Humble, a 1974 Viking double-cabin motor yacht docked at Burton Chace Park.
-
The Gathering: original live performance, reflection, and breaking of bread at sunset. Dinner will be served buffet style.
-
The Collaborative Salon: a continuation of conversation and connection back on the docks aboard the Humble.
Children are welcome during the main gathering.
Boat experiences are adults-only.
Each event also features a curated Field Guide and creative engagement components that invite participants to carry the evening forward long after the sun sets.
A Special Dedication to Black History
Celebrating 100 Years of Black History Month
In 1926, historian Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week an effort to ensure that Black history would not be erased from the American narrative. One hundred years later, Sunsets at Marina Del Rey opens its inaugural episode with a dedication to that legacy.
Marina Del Rey’s shoreline exists within a broader coastal story, from the Tongva people who stewarded the land and waterways for generations, to the mid-20th century displacement of Black beach communities along Southern California’s coast. To gather here now in reflection, in performance, in community, is to participate in a living history.
The evening will feature a new original performance written and performed by Anthony Gaskins, alongside a communal, whole-food buffet and sunset breaking of bread in observance of the sacred transition from day to night.
Hosted by Anthony Gaskins
