Ecosystems of Care

Sunday Supper: Preparing for the 2026 Primary Elections

At the beginning of 2025, Ecosystems of Care, the team behind Market Box Chicago, saw a need to deepen the political education within our network, and build stronger community among our neighbors. Let’s break bread and learn together!

Every month, we’ll gather for supper and discussion on a topic our community has expressed a desire to learn more about, with an eye towards how to support organizing on the issue (eg. housing & displacement on the south side, mass deportations, environmental protections, food security & benefits, guaranteed income).

Join us on Sunday February 22 for lunch and a discussion to prepare for the 2026 primary elections in Chicago. This primary will determine the Democratic and Republican nominees for governor, U.S. Senate, all of our Congressional seats, a handful of statewide and countywide offices, and many judges. To make sense of it all, Trina Reynolds-Tyler and Maira Khwaja (TM Productions) from the Voted Anyway campaign will facilitate a conversation with two critical resources: Stephanie Skora, of the Girl, I Guess progressive voter guide, and Carlos Ballesteros, reporter from Injustice Watch’s non-partisan judicial voter guide.

Join us to learn about how these comprehensive voter guides are made and what to pay attention to this 2026 election. After the conversation, we’ll start preparing our sample ballots using ballotready.org, make a plan to vote, and share a meal cooked by our volunteer chefs!

To accommodate for Ramadan, the meal will be at the end of the event, and space will be available for guests who need to leave early for prayer.

$5 for light lunch. Childcare will be provided, and no one will be turned away.

Ecosystems of Care is a 501c3 non-profit that houses Market Box, a mutual aid project that buys produce from local farms and delivers to 450 families across the South Side every month.
