Join us for a three-day immersive plein air painting experience led by nationally recognized artist Fred Doloresco. Set amid the natural beauty of the Lake Wawasee area, this workshop invites artists to deepen their connection to painting outdoors through demonstration, exploration, and thoughtful critique.
Fred Doloresco is an Indiana-based landscape and plein air painter celebrated for his expressive handling of light, color, and atmosphere. His artistic journey was shaped early through mentorship with Don Stone and encouragement from fellow artists, leading to painting travels throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. Fred is a Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America and a member of the American Impressionist Society and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society. His work has been featured in national exhibitions, publications, and galleries, and he is widely respected as both an accomplished painter and an engaging, generous instructor.
This workshop is designed for artists seeking to strengthen their plein air skills through live demonstrations, individual instruction, and group critique in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Each day follows a structured yet relaxed schedule, allowing for focused learning and ample time to paint on location.
9:00 AM – Instructor Demonstration
Fred begins each morning with a 60–90 minute plein air demonstration, exploring composition, color harmony, light, and effective outdoor painting strategies.
10:30 AM–3:00 PM – Open Painting & Individual Instruction
Participants paint independently at the site. Fred circulates throughout the day, offering personalized guidance, answering questions, and helping artists meet their individual goals.
12:00 PM – Lunch Provided
4:00 PM – Group Critique
The day concludes with a group critique, offering thoughtful feedback and shared learning.
Artists are responsible for their own paints and supplies.
Plein air easels are available on loan
A workshop handout will be provided to all participants
Workshop sessions will take place outdoors at carefully selected locations around Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Indiana. A designated space will be arranged each day for group critiques and discussion.
