Join Team Birkie This Summer
College athletes are invited to join Team Birkie’s Summer Collegiate Training Program—a high-level, coach-led training environment for athletes who want to put together a big summer of training while enjoying the grind with a great crew.
Team Birkie is excited to bring together a motivated, competitive, and fun group of collegiate athletes in the Twin Cities. This program is for skiers who are serious about getting faster—but who also know that the best training happens when you’re surrounded by teammates who push you, support you, and make the work enjoyable.The summer college program will be coached by biathlete and Olympian Jake Brown together with Head Coach Jake Stiele and others. Daily training will be with the year-around athletes from Team Birkie most day, some sessions will specifically target the college team.
Dates: June 1 – August 23
What’s Included:
- A fully periodized training plan designed to build fitness all summer long
- Daily access to experienced coaching
- Daily training opportunities with a high-level group of athletes- A field lactate test - 2 rollerski treadmill sessions(possibility for additional treadmill sessions)Training Schedule (Tentative):
Morning workouts on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
(Locations rotate throughout the Twin Cities to keep things fresh)
Two afternoon strength sessions per week at the Theodore Wirth Trailhead
Expect quality sessions, good vibes, and teammates who will make you better.
Optional Performance Testing
If you are looking for additional performance testing, we offer a VO2 test for $150.
(regularly $250 — a $100 savings.
The VO2 test will add additional detail to what YOU need to see training adaptations based on your metabolic capacity.
Benefits of completing a VO2 test in addition to the lactate test:
Accurate fitness benchmark
Shows your true cardiovascular capacity, more precise than guesswork or basic heart-rate estimates.
Personalized training zones
Helps set exact intensity levels (L1-L5), so workouts are more effective and you can trust that you are training the way that is best for you.
Performance tracking
Lets you see real progress over time if you repeat testing throughout the next few months / years.
Identifies strengths & limits
Reveals whether you’re limited by endurance, efficiency, or conditioning.
Optional Altitude Training Camp (Park City, UT)
Join the team for an optional altitude training camp in Park City from July 20 to August 2.Cost: $1,480Includes:- Daily coached workouts- Meals- Housing- Ground transportation during the camp (Air travel not included). Train hard, recover well, and enjoy two weeks of focused altitude training with your teammates. If this is your first attitude camp, we will be adjusting individual training to ensure that you benefit from this camp.
