Join the Youth Science Institute for a guided Salamander Search at Sanborn Park. This hands-on outdoor exploration invites participants to slow down, observe closely, and discover the hidden amphibians that thrive in our local forest ecosystems.
During this program, we’ll hike along shaded trails and carefully search under logs, rocks, and leaf litter to look for native salamander species. Along the way, YSI educators will share fun and fascinating facts about salamanders, including their life cycles, adaptations, and why amphibians are such important indicators of environmental health.
This program emphasizes respectful wildlife observation—we look gently and leave habitats exactly as we find them to help protect these sensitive animals.
