Sickle Activation: The IBI Archive Fellowship Reception

SICKLE ACTIVATION — A Pop-Up Exhibition & Collection Launch by BAMIDELE

This November, designer and researcher Bamidele “Bami” Aleshe presents Sickle Activation—a three-day pop-up exhibition, collection launch, and Archive Fellowship capstone hosted at Space 001 by the Institute of Black Imagination. Rooted in biomedical research and the life sciences, the Sickle Collection highlights Sickle Cell Diseasethrough the presentation of four leather goods, inviting visitors to consider the translation of pain into practice, crisis into creativity, and survival into ceremony. Designed as both exhibition and activation, the space functions as a gathering site where research and retail both hold space.
