Learn how both tools aim to secure equal rights for women and girls—and why they matter today. Topics include:
What is the ERA? History, current status, and what it would mean for constitutional protections in the U.S.
What is CEDAW? Overview of the international treaty, how it works globally, and the U.S.’s role.
Why Haven’t These Been Fully Adopted? Political barriers and public misconceptions.
Local Action, Global Impact: How advocacy at the local level supports both ERA and CEDAW goals.
Case Studies: Examples of communities using CEDAW frameworks to improve local policy.
Youth in Action: Ways young people can get involved in pushing for gender equality.
By the end of this session, participants will understand how these legal frameworks shape gender equity efforts—and how they can be powerful tools for change.
