URC's 10th Anniversary Gala: Sponsorships & Ticket Sales

We’re all aware that the Valley's workforce shortage poses a hurdle to the growth and prosperity of our beloved communities. If not addressed, businesses will choose not to expand, may leave, or may never invest here at all. When you support United Returning Citizens and those we serve, the over 800 formerly incarcerated individuals who return to the Valley each year, as well as those already returned who need assistance with re-entry, you’re transforming lives and building the Valley’s workforce.

Our focus at URC: We’re helping returning citizens who want to work and reside in the Mahoning Valley to achieve their personal goals, as well as provide local employers with workforce candidates they so desperately need. Our model of integrated and coordinated soft skill job training, housing assistance, expungement, mental health care, and other services has proven successful in accelerating self-sufficiency and stability, including a recidivism rate 25% better than the national average. Our expanding legal and coaching services have helped many “expunge” their records, a step most critical as there are over 850 laws in Ohio that restrict employment opportunities. Gaining employment and stability is no easy task for most.

The challenge for URC is that we do not have sufficient resources to grow our infrastructure to match the ever-increasing needs, nor are we closer to many across the Valley desiring our services. Over the next 12 months, we plan to offer coaching in Lisbon and Warren to expand our presence and outreach efforts.
