9/14/25 - The Story of Hudson House & the History of Cocktails in New York (A Members-Only Event)

Begin your afternoon with a guided tour of Hudson House, led by cofounder and COO Paul Seres. This Italian Villa Revival estate has witnessed more than 170 years of history—first as the 1850s home of philanthropist Archibald Russell, then as the Durkee family’s wedding gift tied to their famous spice empire, and later as the Santa Maria Novitiate monastery for more than a century. Today, Hudson House has been lovingly restored as a distillery and gathering place, carrying its remarkable legacy forward.

After the tour, we’ll turn to the history of cocktails in New York—where past and present come together in a spirited lecture, live mixology demonstration, and tasting.

This Sunday Salon Series program is exclusively for Ulster County Historical Society members. Membership supports our mission to preserve and share Ulster County’s diverse history—and gives you access to unique programs like this one.
