Sputter Box is finishing up their 7th season together, which calls for a celebration! Join Kathryn, Alina, and Peter for a night of music, socializing, refreshments, and merch giveaways on May 9th, 2025 at 7PM at Tenri Cultural Institute. The evening’s program includes pieces Sputter Box has commissioned over the past 7 years and some fan favorites from Sputter Box’s touring shows this year.
Proceeds from this event will support Sputter Box’s 2025-2026 season. There is a range of ticket prices for this event that include drink tickets, merchandise, concert tickets, commission dedications, and more! There is also an option to donate if you would like to support Sputter Box without attending the gala.
All of the funds raised for their concert seasons go directly towards commissioning composers and artists to create new works, production costs to premiere these works and give multiple performances to previously-commissioned works, and travel costs to bring this repertoire to new places. In the past, funds were used to commission composers and artists that you may not have heard of yet, but should get to know! Some of these fantastic artists have included Daijana Wallace, Kakia Gkoudina, John Ling, Allison McIntosh, Mattia Maurée, & Pampi. These funds have also allowed the ensemble to play at venues in New York City, including Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Shapeshifter Lab, Tenri Cultural Institute, Scholes Street Studio, Astoria Art House, and Areté. They have been able to travel to residencies and festivals such as the University of Florida, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab, Minnesota Fringe Festival, and Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Funds for the upcoming season will help increase their commissioning fees for composers, expand the audience and touring schedule, and keep ticket prices low so local concerts can remain accessible to New Yorkers.
