Homestead Membership 2025

Homestead Community Land Trust creates thriving, equitable and inclusive communities through the creation and preservation of homeownership opportunities that are permanently affordable to low and moderate income people and families. Homestead itself thrives through equitable and inclusive engagement and governance of our organization. As a membership organization, we believe that an engaged membership strengthens our relevance to our community and the community’s support for our mission.

Homestead is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with an open membership and a democratically elected board of trustees. One third of our Board members are homeowners from our program, which assures their voice is always represented, and we stay connected to what is important to them.

Membership Application/Renewal Form

I seek to become or renew as a Regular General Member of Homestead Community Land Trust.

I commit to support the purposes of Homestead Community Land Trust, as defined in its articles of incorporation with emphasis on these four:
  1. To acquire housing for low and moderate income people, and to preserve and improve such housing for future generations of low and moderate income people.
  2. To lease or sell housing on an affordable basis to low and moderate income people with buyback provisions which (1) allow these people to develop equity and price of stewardship, (2) allow them to get back their original equity plus the value of approved improvements (including sweat equity), all adjusted for changes in the value of the dollar, and (3) limit future increase in equity so that the housing can continue to be affordable by low and moderate income persons.
  3. To acquire and develop land in a manner which supports the development and improvement of low and moderate income neighborhoods and communities.
  4. To support and develop community-based, democratically controlled organizations in low and moderate income neighborhoods and communities and to collect and share information and skills which enable, encourage and support improvement of housing, land and other activities which will improve low and moderate income neighborhoods and communities.
My registration for membership is my affirmation of and agreement to support these purposes.

My membership benefits will include:
  • A vote in any official meeting of the membership including the Annual Meeting to elect members of the Board of Delegates. (Voting rights are limited to residents of King County, WA)
  • Invitation to Annual Meeting and Annual Member Picnic
  • Homestead ENews and mailed newsletters
  • Acknowledgement in the Annual Report
  • Knowledge that my support is creating a legacy of affordability in my community
