Secret Planet: QWANQWA

Event Information
About event

QWANQWA is based in Addis Ababa.
The band is comprised of the most innovative traditional instrumentalist coming out of Ethiopia and fronted by Selamnesh Zemene, who comes from the bloodline of singers known as Azmari, and is the central ensemble in the many Ethiopian influenced projects of Kaethe Hostetter. With the one string fiddle swirling riffs of Endris Hassen on masinko, Bubu's harp as heavy bass, the many distinct  eats of the Ethiopia as thumped by Misale Legesse on the goat string drums, and Kaethe on electric 5 string violin drenched in envelope and delay, QWANQWA whisks you in a rapt celebratory attention!

Doors at 7pm

Show at 8pm
